Sexual harassment in Texas
A sexual harassment case decided by a federal court of appeals in Texas on October 26, shows that some women are supervised by men who are truly clueless. In Farpella-Crosby v. Horizon Health Care, the male Director of Nursing two to three times a week quizzed women about their sex lives in front of other employees, including asking them if they took men home last night and "got any." This is slander per se, because it implies lack of chastity. When the women asked him to stop, he threatened them with their jobs. In fact, the Director admitted at trial he questioned his employees this way because he felt that if they had a lot of sexual activity the night before it would affect their work performance. The woman won $7,500 from the jury. That's right, seven thousand, five hundred dollars.
