New Overtime Regulations Announced 05-10-2004
- By Rita Risser

On April 20, 2004, the US Labor Department published its new regulations on overtime exemptions for "white-collar" workers. The regulations had not been overhauled in more than 50 years. Unless Congress changes them, the new rules will go into effect in August, 2004. You'll be seeing more about the new regulations is future eNews articles, but here are some highlights:

- All workers making less than $23,660 will be entitled to overtime.

- All workers earning more than $100,000 automatically will not be entitled to overtime pay.

- Exempt employees can be suspended without pay for one or more days, without jeopardizing their exempt status.
