Do I have a right to accrued vacation pay when I leave? 03-21-01
I am in Florida. I recently left a job where I had a total of 10 days remaining vacation time under their vacation policy. Is my former employer required to pay me for that time?
Ann Kiernan responds:
Not in your state, unfortunately. Florida does not have a law which requires an employer to compensate an employee for unused accrued vacation or sick time. Many other states do--check with the Wage and Hour Division of the state's Labor Department.
