Is it invasion of privacy to post a voluntary birthday list? 04-05-2006

We had an employee go around to everybody and ask them for their birth dates for the use of a birthday list. She posted the list with only name month and day, NOT THE YEAR. Two people were really upset stating it is a violation of their privacy. Thanks for any help

Rita Risser replies:

These people want their birthdays known so they can get a party and gifts, but posting it is an invasion of privacy??? Get real. How can people celebrate if they don't know when the birthdays are? Calm them down and tell them if they don't want their birthdays celebrated, fine, they're off the list.
