Am I entitled to a copy of my time card?

When I pick up my check we have to sign our time card. Can I have a copy of it once it’s signed? I asked my employer they said we can’t get a copy. Is this legal?

Ann Kiernan replies:

While in some states, such as California, you would be entitled to a copy, there is no such law in your state, Alabama. However, under federal law, you are entitled to a detailed paystub with your check, showing your regular hours, overtime hours, and all deductions.
