Is it legal for my employer to ask me for my personal vehicle insurance information for my personnel file?

Is it legal for my employer to ask me for my personal vehicle insurance information for my personnel file? Am I obligated to give it to them? I do not use my vehicle for my job.

Your right to privacy depends on your state laws. In general, in states that protect privacy, employers are only allowed to require information relevant to your job. This information does not sound relevant, so you may have a claim for invasion of privacy.
